Hey, everybody. How's it going? It's Gabriela Brunner here of
The New Firm. So I thought I would take the opportunity to say Hi and to talk a little bit more about the Guided Career, which is my new eleven-week Immersive program. And it's kind of cool because this program actually came was birthed originally as Operation Change Career.

And the energy of that particular group was a lot more about like, okay, I hate my job, let's figure out how to get a new one. And over the last two years, as I've worked with clients in that program, as I've worked with clients one on one, as I have gone through several of my own career transitions, I realized that a big part of what we're doing in this world is trying to figure out exactly what we want to do. It's figuring out what exactly we like doing, figuring out how to listen to ourselves. And that really is the main component of the Guided Career. Because if I am like most of you or if most of you are like me, whatever way you want to put it, what we end up doing is we end up saying, this job sucks, this boss sucks.
[00:01:13.550] - Gabriela Brunner
I can't believe that. My colleagues are so terrible. I hate this, I hate this. I hate this about the job. So we spend hours scrolling through all the different online ways.

Maybe some of you look at newspapers, I don't know, looking for a new job. Just as I was saying, we end up just looking for another job. And we look at a job description and the details say in my personal experiences, immigration attorney, Nebraska. And you're like, great, let's do that. Or you see something that has a lot of the things that you have done in your life or that you may be currently doing at your job, but it may not actually be things that you want to do.
[00:01:52.230] - Gabriela Brunner
It may not be things that make you happy. It may not be things that light you up, but you're still sick and tired of where you are, that you want to jump into that next place and you feel like a checklist like, okay, well, okay, I have this much management experience, I have this particular degree or those credentials. So this must be a great job for me. But at the end of the day, there are a lot of things that we don't take into consideration when we're looking for a job. If you head over to my blog, you're going to see a few articles that I wrote probably one and a half to two years ago.
[00:02:23.260] - Gabriela Brunner
The first one that comes to mind is one that talks about quality or quantity. So just as that blog post was simply that we need to understand how we like to work. And the example that I gave was maybe you're the type of person who loves like super fast-paced, you love meeting a lot of different people. Like, you can keep up and multitask and do all that kind of stuff. Think of like, a job at McDonald's, right?
[00:02:45.800] - Gabriela Brunner
Super high turnover, super high volume. Maybe Starbucks, right? During the peak morning and 03:00 p.m. slump hours. And then you think, great. Like, you look at the job description and you think, fun atmosphere, camaraderie, free coffee or free food, whatever, and you're like, I'm going to apply.
[00:03:04.530] - Gabriela Brunner
But you don't take into consideration the fact that it's an extremely high pace, that you burn out after a lot of interaction with people, that it doesn't make you feel good to not be able to get to know people because you've got to move through them so quickly. And so I think of like, a high-end five-star restaurant where you might sit at a table for two and a half hours and you arguably earn as much in tip as you do at a steak and shake type of place where you're moving through people pretty quickly. And so it's going to take two different types of people to excel and do well in those two different types of jobs. But you see how it's very easy to forget that there are things that we like to do because we haven't thought about them for a long time. So the point of all of that is that if you haven't taken the time to figure out how you work best, what are the personality traits that shine for you, and what types of environments do you like to be in?

You're just going to be hopping from one job to another, job to another job to another. And at the end of the day, this is a webinar that I did a little bit ago. It's called "Same Shit, Different Office". And the one constant is you. The constant that is going to move from office to office is always you.

So that's why the Guided Career has now taken on this version. Started as Operation Change Career, but now it's called the Guided Career because, at the end of the day, what I have deeply learned and the techniques that I have used in order to get myself to where I want to be, which is really feeling like the best version of myself is I've learned to listen to myself. I've learned to take a step back and say, okay, what is it that you really want to do, Gabriela? And if you stop and think about that question, it's really one of the hardest questions to ask.
[00:04:50.020] - Gabriela Brunner
And I realized that I wasn't able to hold myself accountable for answering that question. And that's one of the main reasons why I myself got support, worked with several coaches, and continue to work with people to figure out what it is that I truly want to do. Because I feel like it changes all the time, too, when you're trying to find a job, one that's at least going to satisfy you most of the time it's really important to learn to listen to yourself and to learn and take a step back and say what is it that you really want? So I truly hope that if you are in a place right now where you're looking to make a job, change a career transition, or trying to figure out your purpose, you've got these amazing dreams and ideas and you simply don't know how to implement them in your life. Take a look at the sales page. I just put it together yesterday.
